I thought I should add a ‘family formation structure’ so that I could have a manuscript for future record since anything written and documented seemed important. It took tons of correcting my memoir since I first heard it, but it was not that rather easier than to remember every step since the great grand father ‘Aguer from Dinka-ngok origin’ heritage and as well as from other second great grand father Joak Ajur whose himself heritage origin stemmed from ‘Hol people’ Dinka ethnic groups of present day Duk County, Jonglei State, South Sudan, especially in the side of my paternal family. I will leave aside the family origin and structure of my mother Nyalwak Mabil Awer from Nyuak Payam district, Twic East County, Jonglei State since my half sister will narrate that part.
I know that it does not matter where you come from here in the United States, but in some culture, it is always worth knowing where your family originated so that you can pass it along to your children through oral telling and keeping. I thought about this either, however, I did not think and buy it is worth doing by passing it along to my own family, especially to my little daughter since memories through ‘oral telling’ appeared to fade in over time.
Family Formation Origin will start from ‘first Ngok heritage’and there it will pick up somewhere in the middle where it denotes Joak Ajur whose heritage come from ‘Hol people’ from Duk County after migrating to Kongor area and later married a daughter of Bior-kweigak from Kongor people where he decided to zero out where he came, but deliberately made a decision to stay with Kongor people of today Twic East County, Jonglei State—South Sudan. Of course, it is not a far reaching migration since Duk County where he came with tons of wealth, especially livestocks to which he generated for his own and in turn his wealth also become a wealth Bior-kweigak combined since in some culture when you do a marriage you have to give a ‘dowry’ that become a weath-sharing with the family of bride. Joak Ajur intention was more than marrying, but to start a ‘new beginning’ in the ‘new land’ with people of Kongor, especially people of pan-Bior section where brother-in-law, Bul Bior-kweigak had half siblings from three households of Bior-kweigak: Adau Lual household, Kot Mayen household and Akuach household.
